MM1: MadMapper Mapping — Software Mapping Workflow
This session reframes MM1 as a MadMapper‑centered workflow: participants learn the “surfaces + masks + cues” mental model and build a complete small-scale mapping piece on a façade/mockup. Emphasis is placed on environment strategy (museum subtlety vs outdoor architectural boldness), clean project organization, and installation-ready cueing (idle → attract → feature → reset). The result is a repeatable approach that can scale from galleries to site-specific projection contexts.

Learning goals
- Build a MadMapper project with correct outputs and resolution logic.
- Map cleanly to architectural features using surfaces and masks.
- Structure cues for an installation loop (not just a one-off demo).
- Adapt mapping style to environmentand audience behavior.
Learning outcomes
- Translate a conceptual brief into a mapping plan and prototype.
- Create and align mapped surfaces(quads/triangles) and masks for occlusion.
- Produce a short cue-based sequence(60–90 sec) with installation logic.
- Explain differences between architectural projection and museum/gallery mapping choices.
Learning Details
- Duration: ~2h50 (170 min)
- Explore (10): mockup target + “ outdoorvs gallery” contrast
- Learn (30): Theory Module — mapping aesthetics + environment strategy + workflow hygiene
- Create (115): setup/outputs → surface map → masks → warp/blend(as needed) → cue loop
- Share (15): 30–60 sec show +critique (alignment, pacing, clarity)
- Deliverable: [ MadMapper project file+ cue loop + surface naming/versioning convention]
